Learn to Discern!

Discernment

What is the key to being able to discern the difference between truth and lies? Between right and wrong?  1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 teaches that it is the responsibility of every Christian to be discerning: “But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every form of evil.” The apostle John issues a similar warning when he says, “Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1). According to the New Testament, discernment is not optional for the believer-it is required.

Our guest at the Table today is Lori Williams. Lori and her husband Vincent founded Falsified Ministries, helping Christians who want to know: Am I really saved? (You may know Lori as a moderator over on our Google+ Community Page.) Check out the amazing resources over at FalsifiedMinistries.com, and while you’re there you’ll want to read this excellent book, FALSIFIED: THE DANGER OF FALSE CONVERSION.

Also in Segment 1 is our December Advent calendar project with Beth Seifert, which you can create and do with your kids to help them learn to treasure not only the season, but Scripture! Just look for our daily craft instructions and devotional under our December Advent tab.

In Segment 2, pull up a chair for our Bible study as dive back into ROMANS with our Bible study teacher Beth Seifert.  Be sure to download the notes in our Bible study tab on the menu.
